Purpose

  • Develop and implement a sector-specific scorecard for the tourism industry, aligned with the Amended B-BBEE Codes of Good Practice.
  • Monitor and evaluate progress of tourisn enterprises and SOEs in achieving B-BBEE objectives.
  • Provide guidance and support to tourism enterprises in implementing B-BBEE strategies.
  • Promote and advocate for the interests of black-owned and managed tourism enterprises.
  • Facilitate partnerships and collaborations that advance B-BBEE objectives in the tourism sector.

Key Functions

  • Develop, review, and update the tourism sector scorecard, ensuring alignment with the Amended B-BBEE Codes of Good Practice.
  • Verify and validate B-BBEE compliance of tourism enterprises and SOEs.
  • Monitor and report on B-BBEE progress within the tourism sector.
  • Provide capacity-building initiatives and support to tourism enterprises to enhance B-BBEE compliance.
  • Engage with stakeholders, including government, industry players, and civil society, to promote B-BBEE objectives.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure transparency, accountability, and good governance.

Scope of Operation

  • Tourism service providers (e.g., tour operators, travel agencies).
  • Accommodation providers (e.g., hotels, guesthouses, lodges).
  • State-owned enterprises (SOEs) in the tourism sector.
  • Other specialized enterprises in the tourism sector, as defined by the Minister of Tourism.

Governance

The TTCSA will be overseen by a board of directors representing industry, government, and civil society. The board will ensure compliance with the organisation’s mandate, constitution, and relevant legislation. The TTCSA will be accountable to the Minister of Tourism, providing regular reports on its activities and progress toward B-BBEE objectives. Through this governance framework, the TTCSA aims to promote a transformed and inclusive tourism sector in South Africa.
